The world‘s largest manufacturer of bike saddles Selle Royal, together with bage plastics, has developed an environmentally friendly premium saddle base made from PCR polypropylene, now running for the Plastic Recycling Awards 2022.
The iconic cycling saddle named “Lookin Evo” represents Selle Royal‘s commitment to the environment through innovation. Its base is made using recycled post-consumer plastic (rPP), while maintaining the same level of flexibility and comfortable performance. Lookin Evo is a sustainable choice and a solid all-rounder, whether commuting or exploring the outdoors.

The challenging development of a high-tech polypropylene recyclate
The long-term research cooperation between bage plastics and Japan-based Adeka Corporation played a crucial role in the successful development of this outstanding innovation. This high-tech PCR polypropylene had to meet the high requirements of the saddle manufacturer, in particular the extreme aging resistance and safety of the saddle base.
The PCR granulate specially developed by bage plastics is now being used by Selle Royal for the series production of this sustainable bicycle saddle base.
